Bike insurance, also called as two wheeler insurance policy in India, is a policy that protects you from financial loss if your bike is damaged by fire or natural disasters, or if it is stolen. Even if someone’s else’s property is damaged because of your bike, or if they are hurt, your policy covers the cost.
Every customer who purchases a scooter / bike needs to have minimum third party two-wheeler insurance. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 says that it is compulsory for every two wheeler owner to have bike insurance in India. Don’t have a policy? Be careful, this invites a heavy penalty! You need to have at least a third party two-wheeler insurance policy so that any loss to another person – resulting from injuries, damage to property, death – is covered, and doesn’t have to be paid from your pocket.
Hey, we know you already know the answer to this one – riding a bike is fun, but it comes with its share of risks! An accident can of course injure someone or worse, but it can also cause a big financial loss. How can you protect yourself against such a loss? Buying a bike insurance online is a great way to start. Here are some great reasons to get covered: It’s compulsory as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. For new bikes, 5-year third-party cover is required (Supreme Court order, 2018). Penalty for no insurance is ₹2,000 for first offence, ₹4,000 for repeat. A Two-wheeler insurance policy covers you against theft and damage to your bike due to accidents and natural or manmade disasters. In addition, it also pays compensation for loss or damage to another person (injury or death) or property. Personal accident cover for the owner and co-passengers is also available to ensure you have all-round protection

This is like the bobber of insurance policies. It offers the most basic cover that you need to legally ride your hog on the road. This two wheeler insurance policy will only cover damages caused to other individuals or their property.

To cruise carefree on those lost highways, we strongly recommend opting for this cover. Apart from the basic third-party protection it offers, this bike insurance policy will also take care of any damages caused to the two-wheeler, as well as injuries sustained by the rider.

Standalone Own Damage insurance is a policy that only covers your own bike’s damages or loss.

You will be reimbursed for the amount of depreciation deducted on the value of replaced parts.

A pillion-riding passenger will get compensation in case of injury or death while using the vehicle.

We will pay emergency medical expenses for treatment of injury/ies to you or any other rider, while the vehicle is being driven/used.

If you are the first registered owner of a vehicle and have this Add-on, we will look after the charges of total loss, theft or constructive total loss of the vehicle. We will also take care of the Road Tax and RTO registration fee for the insured vehicle.

Typically, your bike insurance policy will be valid for one year. However, there are cases in which you can purchase insurance for up to 3 years at a time. You’ll need to check your policy to understand when it expires.
This will largely depend on the kind of policy and add-ons you’ve selected. Generally, your bike insurance policy will not cover situations in which the two-wheeler is being used illegally, or for damages caused by war, war-like situations, or wear and tear of various parts. To find out if there’s anything we won’t cover, you can check your Policy Schedule.
