Frequently Asked Questions

How much is two-wheeler insurance per year in India?

Third-party alone ranges from Rs 538 to Rs 2,804 a year depending on engine capacity, per IRDAI's FY2024-25 rates. Comprehensive cover on a typical 110-150cc commuter adds roughly Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 of own-damage premium before GST.

Why do new bikes need a 5-year policy?

Following a 2018 Supreme Court order, new two-wheelers must be sold with 5-year third-party cover, because two-wheelers had the highest uninsured rate on Indian roads. Own-damage cover can still be renewed annually.

Does NCB apply to bike insurance?

Yes. The same IRDAI slabs apply – 20% after one claim-free year rising to 50% after five – and the discount applies to the own-damage portion of the premium.
